Buhweju County MP Francis Mwijukye has become a major topic of discussion online following the circulation of a video that has been widely shared on social media. The footage, commonly referred to online as the “Francis Mwijukye leaked video,” has sparked intense debate among Ugandans, prompting the lawmaker to issue a response through a statement attributed to him.
As reactions continue to flood social platforms, some users have gone as far as claiming that the controversial video has “united” Ugandans online. However, such narratives are often driven by a small group of social media users who thrive on viral content—whether verified or not. For them, any alleged leaked video quickly becomes material for sharing, commentary, and sensational discussion.
Media observers have repeatedly raised ethical concerns around this behavior, urging the public to consider how they would feel if similar content were falsely linked to themselves or to someone close to them. The growing misuse of digital platforms has once again highlighted the fine line between public interest and personal harm.
In a statement attributed to him, MP Francis Mwijukye firmly denied any involvement in the video, stating that it does not depict him in any way. According to the statement, the legislator described the footage as artificially generated, warning that it represents a dangerous abuse of modern digital technology.
“I am aware of a video circulating on social media that has been falsely attributed to me. After reviewing it, I can categorically state that I am not the person shown. The video is AI-generated and is a clear misuse of digital technologies.
I strongly reject and condemn its circulation and urge the public to act responsibly and exercise sound judgment,” the statement reads.
