Johannesburg, January 16, 2026 – Lerato Molwelang, the young South African woman at the center of a viral controversy, publicly stated on January 15 that she was the victim of a scam orchestrated by a fraudulent casting agency called “African Audition,” run by an individual named Ivo Suzee.
According to her statement, she was lured with promises of modeling jobs but ended up being filmed in explicit footage without giving informed consent to either the recording or the distribution of the content. This response follows a warning issued on January 13 about Suzee’s activities, which are likely to violate South Africa’s Cybercrimes Act.
Online reactions are sharply divided: some users express support for Molwelang, viewing her as a victim of exploitation, while others question her account, pointing to what appears to be willingness in the video. The young woman has reiterated that she will pursue legal action against anyone or any platform that continues to share or monetize the content, and she has confirmed that the relevant authorities are now involved.
The case highlights the dangers of unverified online job offers, which often target job seekers and can lead to severe forms of exploitation and privacy violations.
