Uganda Election: Yoweri Museveni Wins Another Five-Year Term

Uganda Election Yoweri Museveni Wins Another Five-Year Term

President Yoweri Museveni has been declared the winner of Thursday’s presidential election, extending his nearly four decades in power by another five years.

According to results announced by the electoral commission, Museveni secured 72% of the vote, defeating his closest challenger, Bobi Wine, who garnered 25%.

Opposition Rejects Results

Bobi Wine has strongly condemned the outcome, describing the figures as “fake results” and alleging “ballot stuffing.” However, he has not provided evidence to support these claims, and authorities have yet to respond publicly to the accusations.

Despite the dispute, the opposition leader has urged Ugandans to stage non-violent protests, emphasizing peaceful civic action.

In Power Since 1986

At 81 years old, Yoweri Museveni first came to power in 1986 as a rebel leader. Since then, he has won seven presidential elections, making him one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.

His latest victory further cements his grip on politics in Uganda, amid ongoing debates over electoral transparency, political freedoms, and democratic governance.
