News reaching this publication claims that Zimbabwe government has banned Queen Nadia TV and allegedly vowed to arrest her, sending shockwaves across Africa and beyond on nudity.
According to Zimbabwe papers, the government is not pleased with Queen Nadia TV misconduct on social media.
Zimbabwe government has vowed cracking down social media violation.
In a press statement backing the decision on Queen Nadia TV misconduct, Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) assures the public that the authority reaffirms constitutional duty to protect children and uphold national values in digital broadcasting.
“The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe wishes to inform the polific that it has taken note with serious concern, of the dissernination of explicit digital content by some social media content creators, content which is accessible to audiences within Zimbabwe, including children
“The Authority reiterates that all breadcasting and digital contant consumed within Zimbabwe is subject to the country’s legal and constitutional hamework, irrespective of the platforme through which such content is distributed”, reads in part BAZ statement signed by Eng Matta Ch???????.
The statement reads further, “In as much as the freedom of expression is available fur enjoyment by all Zimbabweans in terms of Section of the Constitution of Zimbabwe such enjoyment must be responsible, and with due regard to the rights of others as stated under Section 6 of the Constitution.
“In terms of the Broadcasting Services Act [Chapter 10 ren have a right to protection from exposure to content that is harmful to their meral and pychological development, with the best interests of the child being paramount”.
The Zimbabwe authority adds, “Moreover, the Censorship and Entertainment Control Act [Chapter 10:04] pribits the dissemination of content that is indecent or obscene or is offensive or harmful to public morals.
“Broadmasters and content creators must therefore suphald public merality and national values as entrenched in the laws of Zimbabwe”.
The statement observes further, “The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe will not permit the misuse of digital platforms in a manner that violatas the Constitution, national laws, or the collective moral standards of the nation.
“Content creators are reminded of their legal and ethical responsibility to ensure that their material complies with Zimbabwean laws and respects the rights and dignity of all citizens, especially children”.
BAZ assures, “The Authority will, in the discharge of its constitutional and statutory mandate, take appropriate enforcement measures to ensure compliance and to safeguard the public interest.
“Gevemment remains committed to preserving the moral fabric of the nation and to protecting children from harmful digital content”.
