Lina Al-Moussaoui Turns to the Judiciary: Pursuing Promoters of the Explicit Video Attributed to Her and Claiming It Is an…

Iraqi social media continues to buzz over the explicit video scandal involving Lina Raad Mohsen Al-Moussaoui (also known as Lina Al-Moussaoui or the Alawiya Lina Al-Mousawi), a finance department director at the Directorate of Northern Projects in Kirkuk under the Oil Projects Company of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. On June 23-24, 2026, the woman at the center of the controversy took decisive legal action.

Lina Al-Moussaoui has filed lawsuits against pages and individuals who promoted and shared the explicit clip attributed to her. In her statements, she strongly asserts that the video is fabricated and generated using artificial intelligence (deepfake). She claims the video has caused her significant psychological and moral harm, particularly in front of her Al-Sada Al-Mousawiya tribe and her family. She emphasized that the judiciary will be the arbiter between her and all those who disseminated the content.

Photos and videos circulating on social media show her visiting the Kirkuk Court of Appeal to submit her complaints. Her brother, Raad, also publicly defended her, explaining that any interaction shown was related to her taking measurements for a director, as she is reportedly skilled in tailoring — a statement intended to downplay any inappropriate implications.

The Oil Projects Company had previously issued an official statement denying the authenticity of the video, describing it as fabricated material aimed at discrediting the institution and its employees.

Context of the Scandal

The leaked video, which appears to have been filmed in an office setting, shows explicit sexual acts, including a fellation, with a senior official often identified as Iyad Hussein Al-Jawhar. It quickly went viral on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and X, sparking widespread mockery with crude puns about “white oil extraction” in reference to the petroleum sector. The scandal gained extra traction due to the sensitive nature of the Ministry of Oil, which is central to Iraq’s economy.

While some users continue to share the content and question the deepfake claim, others have expressed support for Lina, highlighting the dangers of disinformation and the ease with which AI can damage reputations.
