The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted a teacher at Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region following serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student.
The decision was announced in a press release issued on June 16, 2026, after a video showing inappropriate conduct between the teacher and the student surfaced on social media, quickly drawing widespread public attention.
According to the GES, the Service became aware of the disturbing video and immediately initiated investigations into the matter. The teacher has been interdicted in line with the GES rules and regulations while the probe continues.
“Pending the outcome of the investigations, Management directs that the teacher is interdicted in accordance with GES rules and regulations,” the statement said.
Strong Condemnation and Zero-Tolerance Policy
The Ghana Education Service strongly condemned any form of amorous relationship between teachers and students. It reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism within the education sector.
The Service further emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct and cautioned all staff members to uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct at all times.
“Management assured the public that the safety, protection, and well-being of students remain a top priority,” the statement added. It indicated that appropriate disciplinary and legal action would be taken against anyone found culpable once investigations are completed.
“The public is assured that the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness,” the release noted.
GES stated that further updates may be provided as investigations into the incident progress.
The statement was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service.
Background
This development follows the rapid circulation of a video allegedly showing the teacher and a final-year student in a compromising situation within the school premises, which sparked outrage on social media earlier this week.
The case has once again highlighted ongoing concerns about teacher-student boundaries and the protection of learners in Ghanaian educational institutions.
The GES has assured stakeholders that the investigations will be thorough and that justice will be served in accordance with the law and its professional codes.
